WHY DO I NOT ONLY WRITE ABOUT PAIN...

The reason I write about such a variety of topics on this site is because after 13 years of being in constant pain I came to realize that having something else to focus on was a good thing.  Our lives do not just consist of the pain that is in us, although I am well aware that it feels that way more often than not.  Taking your focus off the pain and medical issues can certainly give your mind, heart and stress levels a momentary and well needed break!

I wrote about the new puppy I got, why? Because puppies make us smile and stimulate a part of our hearts that when in constant pain we forget to use.  When life is all but dark it is hard to notice the beauty around us unless it is pointed out.  I also write about some negative aspects because they are real and we face them whether we have pain or medical problems, that is life.  Have you ever heard that a problem shared is less of a problem?

The truth is doing this blog helps me as well as I hope it helps you too.  I once decided I wasn't going through this for nothing, that someone would learn and benefit from my suffering.  I never thought I would be here to be apart of it.  What a blessing it is to share my past and present with you and hopefully help you see that there is hope and life beyond chronic pain.   Thank you.

Homemade Touches for Your Wedding

With huge amount of accessories that go along with a wedding there certainly plenty of ways to do some extra personalization and maybe save some costs as well. Whatever is unique to you can be added into your wedding. You are not limited to simply choosing the colors of your wedding and the designs available from the printer.

Invitations: Invitations are usually ordered from a printer and you look through a book with hundreds of designs that hundreds of other brides have chosen. Having your invitations homemade will add an extra special touch to your wedding before it even begins. There are many script options and designs that can be completely hand created. Some specialty touches can be made by incorporating the use of Quilling and Cross stitch.

Center Pieces: Center pieces can be designed with the things you cherish the most. Whether you create a basket center piece with dried or silk flowers, which can be used and appreciated for years to come, or vases with dimensional design flowers created with Plastic Canvas; if using a clear vase they can be filled with items that correspond with the theme of your wedding, such as sea shells for instance.

Table Tags: This is another way you can create a personal touch. By placing the guests’ names on a table tag written in Calligraphy or even stitched on the card, you will add an element that is often missed at most weddings. If you want to take it a step further you can hand crochet small flowers from thread that coincide with the colors of the wedding.

Garters: This item is often tossed at the wedding and gone forever, just as the bride’s bouquet of flowers. You can have a special garter made just for you that you can keep. Wearing both garters during your wedding and the tossing the regular garter leaves you with a wonderful keepsake. This keepsake garter is often crocheted as well, and a mini replica of the bouquet that you carry can be created with crochet flowers and foliage to stream down the thigh; now you have a keepsake and memory of both pieces of your wedding that are normally lost to you.

These are just a few simple things that can be done to help make your special day that much more unique and memorable. These things may take some time to get together and have the work done but are well worth it and will usually cost less.

There are many other ways to specialize this wonderful day, the important thing to remember is this is your day and if you want chili pepper bouquets on the reception table, and your partner doesn’t mind, you should have them.

Let's Talk Potatoes

Do you remember when you would purchase a bag of potatoes and the would sit in the cupboard, sometimes forgotten until they sprouted?  Have you noticed that this seldom happens anymore?

The potatoes may still be left in the cupboard for some time and you will notice that the potato is soft when you squeeze it, but they seldom sprout. You can have a full 10 pound bag of potatoes and you may notice that only a few have actually produced eyes after a lengthy stay waiting to be used.

This is a warning to the many people that are trying to eat better and to stop polluting their bodies with chemicals that are so commonly used on our fruits and vegetables today.

We know that the soil is lacking in nutrition which has made it difficult to get the vitamins and  minerals that our body needs. Remember that a potato is grown in the ground, therefore it can absorb the nutrients that the soil provides; but they are lacking in these items and the soil is now also filled with chemical treatments to protect our fruits and vegetables from disease and bug infestation.

Now the potato is also being treated with an additional chemical after it is harvested. This new chemical treatment is to prevent the vegetable from sprouting once you have them.  And to stop them from sprouting in storage and transit; thus preventing you from being aware of how long before you purchased the vegetable that it has been harvested.

Becareful when purchasing your potatoes and make sure that you are purchasing your vegetables from a vender you can trust. Also, many of the vegetables are being harvested early, this means when you peel your potato there is a layer under the skin that is still green.

This green area of the potato is unhealthy and can be harmful. I used to never peel my potatoes and enjoyed the vitamins that my body recieved from the skin; I can no longer do this as I have to peel my potatos making sure that this area that is unhealthy is not ingested by me or my family.

The Rising Popularity in Young Men Dating an Older Woman

It used to be much more common to see a younger woman with an older man, but times are definitely changing. Whether the popularity of dating an older woman has increased because of the examples set by some celebrities is unknown, although quite possible.

What are some reasons a young man may choose to share his intimate time with an older woman? Many years ago healthy choice living became popular and woman are better looking for a much longer period of time, without showing the obvious signs of aging. No longer is the 30 year old looked at as an older woman.

Stop and think of the benefits of life with an older woman. With years of experience under her belt, the older woman is more mature than the average 20 year old and usually has already decided, and put in place her career decisions. This would say that yes there are security issues with choosing an older woman.

Sure being a young stud keeping a more experienced woman satisfied has got to be an ego boost but this relationship has far more benefits that many people simply over look.

Many times with the younger generation marriage and a family become a barrier in the relationship. There is increased pressure from the female normally, to tie the knot and begin a family. The truth is, men have some commitment issues and the pressure doesn’t help much.

There is also the issue of dealing with jealous woman, no matter what her age, this problem exists. While the younger women have yet to realize how wonderful life is without the extra stress and drama, they will sometimes create a situation of unnecessary jealousy without realizing it. This is very common, especially if they have grown up in an unsettled home or had bad relationships in the past.

With an older woman the stress of commitment and starting a family is just not there. Here you have a woman that is self sufficient and beyond the insecurities of the younger generation. A relationship with an older woman can be anything you want without all the expectations.

There has been a lot of speculation about the younger man just needing a mother figure or simply avoiding the responsibilities of growing up. I don’t doubt for a minute that this very thing is happening in many cases; but that does not mean that a younger man and an older woman cannot have a healthy loving relationship.

This age gaped relationship is usually about comfort. Being comfortable in all aspects of your life and yes avoiding some of the pitfalls of the stereotypical relationship. One can even venture to say this type of relationship is purely selfish on both his and her part, at some point we will all have time and the desire to be just a little selfish.

The Most Important Thing To Do

The most important thing you can do while learning to live with Chronic Pain is continue to laugh.  Laughter is the best medicine.  Keeping yourself in a good mood and enjoying even the smallest, most trivial things can make such a huge difference in the way you deal with many things as well as the way the world looks at you.

Most of us who are suffering from various forms of Chronic Pain do not want to be pitied. This is often the first reaction many have when they hear about the kind of suffering you may be dealing with.  There are many people in your life that will also have effects from your pain and how you choose to deal with the fact that you have Chronic Pain and how you deal with life from that time forward.

Keeping your head up is a start.  Stay positive.. this is a lesson that is mostly taught by example so many miss out on this lesson.  You and you alone have a very unique opportunity to show the world about a positive attitude and you will be amazed that a few positive words from a suffering person will reach millions and stick with them.

You have an opportunity to not only better you and your family but to give the world an opportunity to try and see things in a more positive light. Trust me this will change the views of generations to come.  It is very similar to the "Pay it Forward" idea of doing something random and kind for others, just because.

The Boxer Breed

The dog breed we know as the Boxer actually came from Germany and is also known as the German Boxer. These dogs are a very stout bodied and are very muscular. This breed of dog is generally considered a mid-sized dog. On all four legs they will reach the average person just above the knee.

The average weight of the adult Boxer is between 50 and 70 pounds. The male is slightly bigger than the female and at full growth will stand an average of 22-25 inches tall measured from his withers. The female will generally be a mere two inches smaller than the male.

The coat of the Boxer is a short haired and sleek. They are usually a fawn color to a deep brindle color and generally have some areas of white markings as well. When choosing a Boxer you will want to keep in mind the amount of white hair that covers the dogs’ body. The boxer with 1/3 or more of his coat white is prone to suffering deafness; this is in an estimated 18% of the cases. Not to mention that the lighter hair will have a pinker more delicate skin underneath leaving the dog at a higher risk for sunburns and damage to their skin.

The Boxer has not only a powerful body but the shape and appearance of his head is very strongly defined. Their head is box shaped, very square and they have a strong jaw line. The jaw line can indicate the strength that the Boxer has in his jaws; the under bite that is common in this breed of animal also gives them an increased holding and pulling power.

The Boxer has a wonderful temperament; they are known to be a very loving and faithful to their owner. Improper training has led many people to believe they are a bit on the stubborn side. Using positive reinforcement is the ideal way to train a breed that is hungry to please.

Click training is also a recommended form of training to use with many breeds, not just the Boxer. The Boxer actually prefers and responds better to being allowed to think and problem solve through a training exercise. As the young Boxer can have a fairly short attentions span it is important to not give them too much repetition at one time.

The Boxer is a non-aggressive breed although they may take issue with a larger breed the temperament of the Boxer is never one to fight and quarrel. Because of their size and strength it is important that they learn how to behave around young children at an early age. The name Boxer was originally given to this breed because when they play they will stand on their two hind feet and swing their arms as if they were in a Boxing match.

The American Kennel Club has reported that this breed is #6 in popularity, again making a wonderful pet for the family, including those with children. These dogs have a lot of energy and need their space to expend their energy.

There are health issues that go hand in hand with the Boxer, as with many other breeds. Here is a few most commonly reported: Heart conditions-Aortic Stenosis, Hypothyroidism, Hip Dysplasia, Epilepsy and Bloating. Just because these are commonly seen in this breed does not guarantee that your pet will have these problems but it is wise to familiarize yourself with the signs and symptoms, this will make sure that if any problems arise you are prepared to spot them and get treatment as soon as possible.
